April 6, 1952 - June 8, 2019
Charles Thomas Mattern Bridge, 67, of Omaha, passed away June 8, 2019 while doing something he loved with people that he loved, cycling in Iowa. A Rosary Service will be held June 15 at 10:30am at Presentation Parish (Marietta), followed with a Memorial Mass at 11am at the church. The family will be hosting a “Bridgie’s Tailgate Party” immediately following the mass at David City Auditorium. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Any memorials can be designated to the family for later designation. Tom was born April 6, 1952 to Robert and Diane(Mattern) Bridge in Norfolk, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Ann Adamy on May 7, 1977 in David City. Tom worked at Computer & Network Security and Consulting, in Omaha. Tom’s life was one of distinct characterization which requires little embellishment contrary to his storytelling customs, his legacy -- one of a dying breed. An outlaw. A cowboy. A genuine soul who surrounded himself with friends of the highest quality and character. A family man who lived selflessly yet selfishly enough to feed his inquisitive soul. He carefully maintained an unbreakable bond with countless friends and family members, a bond that will exist through eternity. Rarely taking time to slow down, he was always about the next adventure. A true wanderlust of sorts. This was something which he was well known for. “Life is for living” was a statement he quoted often and one he truly lived by and took quite literally. His spirit has inspired and will continue to inspire each and every soul he came into contact with. If there ever were a man that possessed an effortless infectious energy, Tom was that man. Over everything, his heart overflowed from the successes of his family and the love that they all shared. Now that his physical presence is gone, that love is strengthened and remembered through shared memories. “Tom time” is a concept that among family and friends insists he might be running behind for his meeting with the rest of the universe but those who knew him closest know that his departure was all too soon. He will be abundantly missed. Tom is survived by his wife: Rose, of Omaha; daughter: MacKenzie Bridge, of Chicago, IL; son: Tommy Bridge, of Lyons, CO; brother: Robert(Aimee) Bridge, of Scottsdale, AZ; and nephews: Stuart(Tara), Alec and Nate Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert(Diane) Bridge.
