March 19, 1928 - September 11, 2015
Geneva M. Pelan, 87, of David City died Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City. Memorials: In Care of the Family Geneva was born on March 19, 1928 to Conrad and Mae(Schmit)Meister at Bellwood, Nebraska. She married Leonard Pelan on February 4, 1950 at Bellwood, Nebraska. Eight children were born to this union. Geneva passed away peacefully while presiding at St. Joseph's Villa, where she called home for over three years. Geneva lived for her family. Through her and Leonard's guidance, they instilled a sense of family that is evidenced by the close bond between all the siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The little house on 4th street has continued to be host to numerous gatherings, even after Geneva moved into St. Joseph's Villa. Major events are now hosted in a hall, since most events are 50 people strong. This is a tradition that is sure to continue in memory of the wonderful lives that Leonard and Geneva created. As if raising a family of eight wasn't enough work, and once the kids were all in school, Geneva went to work at Henningsen Foods. She remained there for many years until she decided that she would run a small daycare out of her home. She cared for as many as eight kids at one time. She loved all those in her care and continued to run her daycare for over 20 years, but often wondered if continuing to work at Henningsen Food would have been easier than daycare. Geneva's legacy will live on for many years through the family and traditions she has created. God has granted her peace by reuniting her with Leonard in Heaven.
